About The Event

A long time ago, hydrogen and helium lived in harmony in the early Universe. As time passed, gravity started to play a dominant role and created the first sources of light, which did not bode well with hydrogen. In a bloody conflict, between light and hydrogen, that lasted several hundred million years, culminated with the destruction of all neutral hydrogen in the Universe. Astronomers refer to this era as the Epoch of Reionization. What happened? How did it happen? Let's find out.  Dr Shikhar Asthana of the Kavli Institute of Cosmology will present the latest thinking based on his current research
