Brown Dwarf stars and Rogue Planets (note this is the 4th Saturday in May, not the last one)
Sat 24 May
|Institute of Astronomy
We talk a lot about bright and massive stars, so this month we thought it would be good to let the little guys have a turn. Come along to learn about the smallest stars, brown dwarves, and also rogue planets that wander the galaxy on their own

Time & Location
24 May 2025, 10:00 – 12:00
Institute of Astronomy, Madingley Rd, Cambridge CB3 0HA, UK
About The Event
There are three types of brown dwarf stars so we'll learn about all three. We'll also be looking at Rogue or Free floating planets that don't sit in orbit around a star. We believe that our solar system probably had many more planets or planetisimals in its early days, but most of them were thrown out due to interactions with other large planets. Where did they go and how might they evolve?
We'll have the usual activities and hope to allow everyone to paint-a-planet as part of the fun.
